Maybe because its a comprehensive database of quality fully tuned used bikes at really low prices, or then there are the free bikes or parts posted there almost every day! Always worth keeping an eye on it for some used goodness!
We fix up and fully tune our used bikes by using new or recycled parts. Those that are too far gone are fully stripped and sent off for RECYCLING! One of the best things about OUR used bikes, is that they are from DONATIONS and NOT STOLEN!
Speaking of stolen bikes, check out this CTV story about a raid on a bike chopshop with over 60 stolen bikes recovered that were being sold on Craigslist. Fewer outlets for people to buy stolen bikes = fewer bikes being stolen hopefully!
Buying stolen bikes just perpetuates the cycle. As you know its always buyer beware on Craigslist where you don’t know the history of the bike, let alone its mechanical state! We’ve seen so many unspotted bent forks, cracked frames and nightmare quick fixes (pedals welded onto the crank was a good one…) come to get their purchase tuned.
There are bargains out there to be had out there for sure, its not all bad by any means, but it makes sense to buy a USED BIKE that has been TUNED UP by an actual BIKE SHOP! and most of the time at a BETTER PRICE!
